Which Are Better: LED Or Xenon Headlights | Mission, TX
Many new cars are sold with either LED headlights or xenon headlights. But what’s the difference, and which should you get when buying a new or used car, truck, or SUV at Bert Ogden Chevrolet?
LED Headlights
Typically, LEDs are more affordable for the automaker to manufacture, and those savings get passed on to the consumer. But don’t let the cheaper price fool you: LEDs are actually more efficient than xenon headlights and will last longer, though they will grow dimmer with time.
Automakers like to use LEDs because they are easier to configure into unique headlight shapes. These lights are typically white.
Xenon Headlights
Xenon headlights made their debut in luxury vehicles. They are famous for their bluish glow and extra brightness. In fact, they are so bright that many drivers complain about them when they are used by oncoming vehicles. For this reason, automakers have begun installing a feature in vehicles with these lights that points them away from the eyes of oncoming drivers.
Despite being associated with luxury vehicles, they are less efficient than LEDs and don’t last as long. Nowadays, on new cars, you can get them as an aftermarket purchase. You can still often find them on used cars.
